H2R Consulting are exclusively recruiting for a growth role within a leading global Professional services firm. We are looking for a talented and experienced BAS Manager to join an already well oiled and extremely productive team based in Wellington.

Purpose of the position is to provide accounting and advisory services to clients, to contribute to the local and national teams, and to provide management and leadership of the PHB team. Client spread is across Auckland/ Wellington/ Christchurch.

The Manager already is required to have a broad professional knowledge and is developing specialist areas of expertise. Manages own work and has responsibility for the work of others, including supervising others and coaching to develop expertise. Regularly relates to others internally and externally to achieve results. Works collaboratively to develop own skills and problem solve.

The role is (broadly) broken into three areas:

 Service delivery

  • Providing technical advice on complex client situations
  • Performing complex compliance and advisory work
  • Supporting partners by leading complex assignments and ad hoc projects
  • Providing day to day service to clients, e.g. acting as first point of contact
  • Analysing potential solutions from complex situations and making credible recommendations to the partner
  • Producing high quality reports and other documents to final draft stage
  • Planning all aspects of a client assignment, including resourcing, budget and timeframe consulting with partner as necessary
  • Maintaining an overview of all aspects client assignments, resolving or referring risks and issues as appropriate
  • Reviewing files and other work in preparation for final partner sign off
  • Working with specialists from elsewhere in the business to assess and apply high quality technical advice 

Client relationships

  • Managing a portfolio of clients, including managing all aspects of the client relationship and ensuring positive working relationships are maintained, and reporting on this to the partner on a regular basis
  • Identifying potential risks or issues in regard to the client relationship and resolving or referring these to the partner
  • Leading client meetings to inform client of progress and respond to questions and requests, consulting with and reporting to the partner as required and/or agreed

Risk Management

  • Uses understanding of the firm’s risk management policies and procedures and relevant professional standards, ethics and methodology, to apply and advises team members on the application of these
  • Keeps abreast of changes that may affect clients and team members e.g. legislative changes, and shares that knowledge accordingly
  • Ensures compliance with internal procedures
  • Mitigates risk at all times and monitors compliance within the team
