About us:
Te Mātāwai supports and champions the use of te reo Māori in homes, across communities and among iwi so it is heard, felt and seen on a daily basis!
We are an independent statutory entity legislated to:

  • provide leadership in promoting the health and well-being of Te Reo Māori for iwi and Māori, and at the community level
  • support, inform and influence the Crown’s initiatives in protecting, promoting and revitalising Te Reo Māori
  • give effect, through its association with Ministers of the Crown, to the relationship of the Crown with iwi and Māori in relation to Te Reo Māori; amongst other things.

We are searching for a Corporate Services Manager to lead our Corporate Services team, overseeing the delivery of essential corporate service functions and to be an integral part of the Te Mātāwai Leadership Team.
The role:
In this exciting role, you will build and maintain a variety of relationships, both internal and external, therefore, visibility across the motu is essential to the success of this role. Duties include:

  • Lead the Corporate Services Team, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Foster and lead a proactive and positive culture at Te Mātāwai, promoting continuous improvement throughout the team and organisation.
  • Contribute to the development and achievement of Te Mātāwai strategy and annual plans.
  • Oversee the provision of quality Corporate Services, including finance, human resources, IT and information services, legal, administration and facilities management.
  • Support the Te Mātāwai Board and Audit and Risk Committee, ensuring they are provided with financial and risk reporting and administrative support.

About you:
To succeed in this role you will bring:

  • A degree in an accounting-related subject.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in corporate management or senior management-related roles.
  • Proficiency in both Māori and English
  • Experience in working on Māori-related matters with government and/or in political contexts.
  • Excellent organisational skills and an ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong presentation, communications skills (written and oral) and relationship management skills.
  • Experience in working with whānau, hapū, iwi, Māori organisations and communities.
  • Sound understanding of tikanga and Treaty of Waitangi principles.
  • Be a passionate advocate for the revitalisation of the Māori language.
