About the role:

We are seeking a Team Lead – Procurement to join our client based in Te Awamutu. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned procurement professional to lead and manage a team of 8 direct reports, overseeing procurement operations, resource distribution, and ensuring the selection of high-quality goods and services.

As the Team Lead, you will be responsible for managing end-to-end procurement processes, mentoring the team, and ensuring that procurement policies are consistently followed.
Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Team Leadership: Mentor, coach, and develop your team of 8 direct reports, conducting regular performance reviews and development conversations.
  • Procurement Leadership: Oversee the procurement process from market assessments to contract execution.
  • Strategic Sourcing: Implement procurement strategies, including writing go-to-market strategies and sourcing objectives, to achieve cost savings initiatives.
  • End-to-End Tendering Process: Lead the full tendering process, including issuing Requests for Proposals (RFPs), evaluating submissions, negotiating contracts, and executing agreements to secure quality suppliers and services.
  • Supplier Management: Cultivate strong relationships with suppliers and ensure consistent supply of goods and services that meet organisational needs.
  • Compliance & Policy Adherence: Ensure full compliance with procurement policies and procedures, while driving initiatives that contribute to financial and quality improvements.

About you:

  • Experience in managing a team, providing mentorship, and coaching.
  • Strong understanding of strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supply chain management.
  • Experience managing end-to-end tendering processes, including leading RFPs, evaluating bids, and negotiating contracts effectively.”
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
