This is the vision of a new Māori language strategy called the Maihi Māori that was developed by Māori for kāinga, hapori and iwi.
Early in 2017, Te Mātāwai met with all stakeholders nationwide to gather feedback on Māori language initiatives in homes and communities, their aspirations for te reo Māori and the role of Te Mātāwai in realising these aspirations.  The feedback informed the development of the Maihi Māori 2017-2040 Strategy.
The role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a high performing senior Learning & Development professional to join this great organisation on a 12-month fixed term basis. Te Mātāwai are an organisation made up of people who are committed to upholding the mana and revitalisation of te reo Māori. 
The Senior L&D Advisor will be responsible for creating an induction, development and training framework for staff, board members and Pae Motuhake. You will implement modern and high-quality learning solutions via a range of methods including but not limited to; webinars, workshops, e-learning modules, on the job aids and self-study resources. 
You will identify and prioritise the training and development needs of Te Mātāwai through engaging with stakeholders. This includes partnering with the business to understand learning needs and identifying capability gaps.
About you
You will be a self-directed and credible learning and development professional with:
  • Excellent communication skills with conversational level of Te Reo Māori combined with a sound understanding of tikanga and Treaty of Waitangi principles
  • A collaborative approach with an interpersonal style that enables you to build positive working relationships and gain buy in from others.
  • Significant experience in leading the development, design and implementation of best practice training and learning solutions.
  • Experience in leading the development of learner-centric solutions to build people capability
  • Up to date knowledge and understanding of learning principles and trends
