Strategic Finance Adviser (Senior) – Central Government
Location: Wellington | Flexible: 4 days in office | Salary: $120,000 – $140,000

We’re looking for a Senior Strategic Finance Adviser to join a central government Funding and Performance team. This is your chance to shape high-impact initiatives, provide strategic analysis, and influence decision-making at the heart of government.

This is an exciting chance to further hone your skills in this arena.

The role involves:

• Analyse financial and non-financial data to identify opportunities, risks, and strategic initiatives.
• Develop and present initiatives to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and return on investment.
• Perform cost-benefit analysis and financial scenario modelling to support key decisions.
• Prepare briefings for the Leadership Team and Ministers, and support Budget strategy and Cabinet papers.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners, including Treasury and other central agencies.

Who you are:

• Tertiary qualification in Finance, Policy, Commerce, or similar; Chartered Accountant or equivalent desirable (NOT required).
• Strong experience analysing data and supporting initiatives in a government or policy environment.
• Excellent strategic, analytical, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of tikanga Māori and Pacific peoples’ culture is a plus.
