About the role
This is a chance to join a well-regarded NZ Government agency with an excellent reputation and brand where you’ll embed yourself in their established payroll function for the next 12 months.

This role focuses on supporting the company’s BAU function and leading a close-knit team of payroll officers through fortnightly payment processes.
The head office is based in the CBD and only a short walk from the train station and public transport links.

Interviews will commence from early February with a prospective start date of mid-March 2026.
  
What you’ll be doing
The Payroll Team Lead’s objective is to provide support to the team’s wider delivery for the payroll function. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the existing team are operating efficiently and delivering a high level of service to their internal customers.

To be successful in this role you must have the following experience:

• At least 3 years of payroll team leadership experience in a large corporate environment.
• The ability to analyse payroll data and provide quality assurance before commencing payment runs
• Coach and nurture the wider payroll team to ensure a high level of customer service is being delivered
• Comprehension of the Holidays Act, IEAs, and Collective Agreements
• Exposure to complex payroll systems such as Pay Global, SAP or I Payroll
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• The legal right to work in New Zealand.
