The Opportunity
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Lead Business Intelligence Analyst will partner closely with the Lead Performance and Reporting Advisor and stakeholders to deliver high-quality analytics, insights, and reporting that support organisational performance, strategy, and service improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted business partner, providing timely, data-driven insights and advice to internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain reliable data infrastructure and reporting systems
  • Analyse complex datasets relating to teacher registration, certification, workforce trends, and customer insights
  • Produce high-quality dashboards, reports, and presentations (monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc)
  • Ensure data integrity and support statutory and corporate reporting requirements
  • Collaborate with IT and other teams to identify and implement data and technology improvements
  • Build strong relationships across the Council, Ministry of Education, and wider education sector

  
Mō te tūranga | About the role:
 You are an experienced BI professional who enjoys working at the intersection of data, strategy, and impact. You are confident engaging with senior stakeholders, comfortable working independently, and motivated by purpose-driven work.

 You will bring:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a Business Intelligence or intelligence/analytics role
  • Strong experience analysing large, complex datasets
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Power Query, Tableau and/or similar tools (e.g. Power BI)
  • Experience developing performance measures, statistical methodologies, anddashboards
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to tell clear, compelling stories with data
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills

Desirable:

  • Experience in a Salesforce environment
  • SQL or other query language capability
  • Experience in the public sector or education sector
  • Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in the workplace
