We are partnering with a leading public sector organisation based in Wellington that is currently undergoing an exciting phase of digital modernisation. We are looking for multiple Senior Java Developers to design and build the application software that keeps New Zealand moving forward.

The Role This is a backend-focused position where you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining complex services and software solutions.

• Product-Centric: Work within product teams, staying with a product long-term or flowing to high-priority modernisation projects as needed.
• Mentorship: Provide guidance to junior members and contribute to the evolution of development standards and system design policies.
• Modernisation: A core focus on refactoring and upgrading legacy systems into well-engineered, modern outcomes using industry best practices.

Technical Essentials:

• Core Tech: High proficiency in Java (experience with Java 17+ and Spring Boot is highly ideal).
• Methodology: Strong experience working in Agile environments.

• Quality: A commitment to writing clean, efficient code and delivering comprehensive design documentation.

Nice-to-Haves:

• Front-end experience with React and TypeScript.
• General familiarity with JavaScript.

Soft Skills:

• The ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
• A collaborative approach to problem-solving and an adaptable nature.
