We’re recruiting for a capable and proactive HR Advisor to join the People and Capability team of a large, values-led organisation.

This broad generalist opportunity would suit someone who enjoys working at pace, supporting managers and balancing advisory responsibilities with hands-on operational HR delivery. You’ll work across two busy and dynamic business areas, helping ensure employee changes, recruitment, documentation and day-to-day HR matters are managed accurately and efficiently.

About the Role
Reporting to a Senior HR Business Partner and working closely with the HR Coordinator and wider People and Capability team, you’ll provide practical HR advice and support to managers and employees across a large and diverse workforce.

The organisation is agile and entrepreneurial, with less reliance on rigid policies and prescribed processes. You’ll need to be comfortable operating in the grey, using your judgement and taking ownership of work with minimal direction.
This is a varied role combining manager advisory support with recruitment, onboarding, employment documentation, payroll inputs, employee relations support and wider people initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide practical HR advice and guidance to managers and employees
  • Prepare employment agreements, offers, variation letters and employee documentation
  • Manage employee changes, fixed-term agreement expiries and offboarding requirements
  • Support high-volume recruitment, including advertising, screening, interviews and pre-employment checks
  • Coordinate offers and onboarding to ensure a positive experience for new employees
  • Prepare accurate employee information and contractual changes for weekly payroll cycles
  • Respond to queries relating to leave, benefits, policies and employment processes
  • Support employee relations matters, including absence, performance and misconduct
  • Assist with investigations, consultation processes, correspondence and formal meetings
  • Maintain accurate employee records and complete regular HR data checks
  • Monitor employee visas and support compliance with immigration requirements
  • Contribute to HR projects, engagement activities, wellbeing initiatives and process improvements
  • Support the implementation and transition to a new HRIS

What You’ll Bring

  • Approximately three to five years’ experience within Human Resources
  • Broad generalist experience across recruitment, onboarding and employee lifecycle processes
  • Experience providing practical HR advice and support to managers
  • Some exposure to employee relations matters and sound knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation
  • Experience working within a fast-paced, high-volume operational environment
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Confidence progressing work independently and using your initiative
  • The ability to use sound judgement where there is no clearly defined process
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A collaborative, adaptable and down-to-earth working style
  • Experience within construction, infrastructure or another operational environment would be advantageous but is not essential.

Why You’ll Love This Opportunity

  • Join a supportive and collaborative People and Capability team
  • Gain broad exposure across operational HR, advisory work and wider people initiatives
  • Work within a values-led organisation that encourages initiative and professional development
  • Support a diverse workforce across busy and changing business environments
  • Enjoy flexible start and finish times and the ability to work from home up to two days per week
  • Benefit from free onsite parking at the Wiri office

If you’re a proactive and adaptable HR professional who enjoys variety, autonomy and working within a fast-paced environment, we’d love to hear from you.
