About TRC and THA
Tāmaki Regeneration Company (TRC) and Tāmaki Housing Association (THA) work together to support thriving and connected  communities across Glen Innes, Panmure and Point England. TRC leads one of Aotearoa’s largest urban regeneration programmes, while THA provides housing and tenancy services that help tenants and whānau feel secure and well supported in their homes. Together, they work alongside Mana Whenua, Iwi, Pasifika communities, whānau and local partners to create quality housing, strengthen wellbeing and foster a lasting sense of identity and belonging in Tāmaki.

TRC and THA are people-centred, values-led organisations grounded in:

  • Ka Poipoi — caring for and nurturing one another
  • Ka Honohono Tātou — joining and coming together
  • Ka Waihanga Tahi Tātou — reflecting, learning, designing and creating together

The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a newly created Business Support team and shape how the function operates from the outset. You will have genuine scope to establish its culture, introduce better ways of working and build a responsive service that supports people across TRC and THA.

Reporting to the Director, Tenancy Operations, you will lead a team of four and work alongside three Area Managers within the wider leadership group. You will oversee customer service, reception, administration, hosting and office coordination across three locations, ensuring tenants, whānau, visitors and colleagues receive a consistently professional and responsive experience.
You will bring the team together around clear priorities, strengthen the follow-through of enquiries and complaints, and build a culture where care, accountability and delivery go hand in hand.

You will also:

  • Coach and develop your team, building capability and managing performance confidently and fairly.
  • Improve systems, processes and workflows to create a more consistent and efficient service.
  • Manage team priorities, workloads and coverage across a busy, multi-site environment.
  • Monitor service performance, identify emerging risks and provide practical advice to the Director.
  • Embed Te Ao Maarama and culturally responsive ways of working into everyday team practice and service delivery.

Who You Will Be
You are an experienced people leader from a business support, administration, customer service, office management or comparable operational environment. You enjoy bringing structure to busy teams and know how to maintain high standards while remaining warm, approachable and focused on service.
Highly organised and proactive, you can see both the detail and the bigger picture. You are confident setting expectations, having direct conversations and holding people accountable, while providing the coaching and support they need to succeed.

You will bring:

  • Strong people leadership experience, including coaching, capability development and performance management.
  • Excellent organisation, prioritisation and time-management skills.
  • Analytical and strategic thinking, with the ability to identify wider impacts and address root causes.
  • Sound customer-service judgement and confidence managing complaints, escalations and sensitive matters.
  • Clear communication style and the credibility to build trusted relationships at every level.
  • Experience working effectively with Māori, Pasifika and culturally diverse communities, with a commitment to equitable and culturally responsive practice.

Above all, you will be an energetic, practical and delivery-focused leader who is excited by the opportunity to create something new and build a Business Support function known for its excellent service.

Why TRC and THA
This is a rare opportunity to make a new leadership role your own and contribute to meaningful kaupapa that directly benefits whānau and communities.

Benefits include:

  • A supportive, inclusive and culturally diverse workplace
  • The opportunity to contribute to generational community impact
  • Five weeks’ annual leave, additional parental leave, wellbeing benefits and medical insurance
