We are partnering with a leading New Zealand organisation to recruit a Senior Manager – Financial Crime Risk Analytics. This is a unique opportunity to lead a critical first-line financial crime risk analytics function, influence enterprise-wide decision making, and shape the future direction of financial crime risk management within a large and highly respected organisation.
This role is ideally suited to a leader currently operating within a large private sector environment, where balancing commercial objectives with robust risk management is a key part of everyday decision making.

The Opportunity
As the Senior Manager, you will lead the development, enhancement, and oversight of financial crime risk analytics capabilities, helping the business better identify, assess, monitor, and manage financial crime risk.
You will work closely with senior stakeholders across Risk, Compliance, Technology, Data, and frontline business teams to deliver robust analytical solutions, strengthen risk frameworks, and provide actionable insights that support both strategic and operational decision making.
This role offers the ideal combination of leadership, technical expertise, stakeholder engagement, and strategic influence, with the opportunity to make a genuine impact across a large and complex organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of financial crime risk analytics frameworks, models, and methodologies.
  • Drive the optimisation of customer risk assessment, monitoring, and analytical capabilities.
  • Produce meaningful insights from complex datasets to support risk-based decision making.
  • Partner with stakeholders across business, risk, compliance, and technology functions.
  • Translate regulatory requirements and risk obligations into practical analytical solutions.
  • Identify emerging financial crime trends, vulnerabilities, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to a specialist team.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and strong risk management practices.
  • Support strategic initiatives designed to strengthen the organisation’s overall financial crime risk capability.

About You
You will be a proven leader with strong analytical capability and experience operating within financial crime, risk analytics, compliance, or a related risk discipline.
To be successful, you will bring:

  • Significant experience within Financial Crime, Risk Analytics, Compliance, Risk Management, or a closely related field.
  • Experience gained within a private sector organisation, ideally within banking, financial services, insurance, fintech, consulting, or another highly regulated commercial environment.
  • Strong understanding of financial crime risk management, including customer risk assessment, analytics, monitoring, and risk frameworks.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience interpreting large and complex datasets.
  • Strong technical capability across analytics, modelling, reporting, and visualisation tools.
  • Proven ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders across business and risk functions.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams.
  • The ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively to a range of audiences.
  • A strategic mindset combined with a practical, commercially focused approach.
