Put your traffic management knowledge to work supporting Auckland’s state highway network

  • Six-month maternity leave cover, with potential to extend
  • Apply your TTM design experience in a technical network access role
  • Ellerslie based, with one week of night shifts every four weeks

Our client maintains and operates essential transport infrastructure across Auckland. Their team works closely with contractors and industry partners to support safe roadworks and minimise disruption for road users.

About the role
We’re looking for someone with practical temporary traffic management (TTM) experience to join the Network Access Coordination team for an initial six-month maternity leave assignment.

This is a technical role requiring an understanding of traffic management design, risk and safe worksite arrangements. You’ll draw on your experience to support the review of traffic management plans and coordinate safe access for contractors working across the network.

Training will be provided in the team’s systems and processes, giving you the support to build on your existing technical knowledge.

What you will do

  • Support the review of traffic management plans and risk assessments
  • Coordinate contractor access and help identify opportunities for shared closures
  • Assess how proposed works could affect road user safety and traffic flow
  • Prepare daily and weekly closure reports and keep stakeholders informed
  • Work closely with contractors, internal teams and the Auckland Transport Operations Centre (ATOC)
  • Support compliance monitoring and provide technical input on temporary traffic management

What you will bring

  • At least two years’ relevant experience in temporary traffic management
  • Previous experience designing traffic management plans
  • A sound understanding of TTM risks, safety requirements and design principles
  • Familiarity with CoPTTM and the New Zealand Guide to Temporary Traffic Management (NZGTTM)
  • Clear communication, sound judgement and strong attention to detail
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office; experience with MyWorksites or similar coordination software would be an advantage

No formal qualifications are required, but relevant technical experience and traffic management design knowledge are essential.

The role usually works standard office hours in Ellerslie. Once every four weeks, you’ll work Sunday to Thursday nights from ATOC on the North Shore, starting around 7–8pm and working eight-hour shifts.
