 Data Analyst (Fixed Term – 10 months)
Wellington CBD | Hybrid working

We’re looking for an Intermediate Data Analyst to join a collaborative team on a 10-month fixed-term basis, working with large volumes of employment, HR, and payroll data.

This role will suit someone with advanced Excel skills who enjoys getting into the detail, working with complex datasets, and turning numbers into meaningful insights that support business decisions.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Analyse large sets of HR, payroll, and employment datasets to identify trends and insights
  • Build and maintain reports and dashboards (Excel essential, Power BI advantageous)
  • Use advanced Excel functions (pivot tables, lookups, data modelling) to manipulate and interpret data
  • Partner with stakeholders across HR and the wider business to translate data into meaningful outcomes
  • Support data quality, integrity, and reporting improvements
  • Present insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

What we’re looking for:

  • 2-5 years’ experience in a Data Analyst or similar role
  • Advanced Excel skills (essential)
  • Experience working with large datasets; SQL advantageous
  • Exposure to HR, payroll, or workforce data (highly advantageous)
  • Power BI experience (nice to have)
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
  • Ability to handle sensitive/confidential information with care
