Data Analyst (Power BI) – Turn Raw Data into Real Insight

Are you the kind of Data Analyst who loves turning messy, fragmented data into clear, powerful insights that actually change how a business operates? This is your chance to take ownership of a data landscape that’s ready for transformation.

Our Christchurch-based client is on the cusp of major change with a PeopleSoft implementation going live late January 2026 — and they need someone who can bring structure, clarity, and confidence to their data story.

What you’ll be doing

  • Diving into raw data sources (Excel + legacy systems), cleaning, shaping, and transforming them into usable, consistent datasets.
  • Building insightful, accessible Power BI dashboards that help leaders make better, faster decisions.
  • Working closely with stakeholders across five different branches to standardise reporting and bring order to data chaos.
  • Supporting the business through their ERP implementation — PeopleSoft experience is a bonus, but not essential.
  • Embedding yourself early on with senior stakeholders and wider teams, becoming a trusted voice who can explain data in a way people get.

What we’re looking for

  • 3-5 years experience working in a dedicated Data Analyst capacity.
  • Strong Power BI capability — you know how to craft dashboards that sing.
  • Genuine ETL / data transformation experience (not just “loading a dataset”).
  • You will have the ability to work with legacy data, translate and share with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder skills — you can translate complexity into something relatable.
  • Someone who thrives working closely with people, not just data.
  • Experience around ERP or payroll/HR reporting is great with the ability to engage with other transformation stakeholders.

To be considered for this role you will be currently based in Christchurch with the ability to commence work ASAP for a 3-4 month contract duration.
