Are you passionate about driving positive change and fostering strong partnerships within a diverse healthcare environment? This is a great opportunity for an HR Generalist to step into an HRBP position and work collaboratively within a wider HR team to make a lasting impact in the HR function and the wider community.

We have an opportunity for an HR Business Partner based in Whangarei. As the HRBP, you will work closely with the People Partnering Lead and the wider HR team to manage the full HR remit, including employee relations, union relationships, leadership coaching and development, cyclical activities, and employee engagement. You’ll act as a trusted advisor to the General Managers overseeing healthcare services across Northland. This role requires articulacy, confidence, and a forward-thinking approach. To excel in this role, you will:

  • Have a good understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and how they can be embedded into everyday HR practices to promote equitable health outcomes for the community in Northland.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to develop and implement people strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Provide expert HR advice and build constructive stakeholder relationships.
  • Possess sound knowledge of employment legislation.
  • Foster collaboration across departments and with key stakeholders to drive effective HR initiatives.
  • Contribute to policy development, provide coaching to managers, and lead cyclical annual projects.

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Experience working in HR functions in a busy and dynamic environment.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to navigate complex relationships and influence at all levels.
  • A proactive and adaptable mindset, capable of thriving in ambiguity.
  • High emotional intelligence (EQ) with a strong ability to coach leaders through best HR practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex employee relations (ER) queries and issues.
  • Collaboration and teamwork — this is a close-knit team where everyone works together.
  • Experience working in unionised environments is advantageous but not a requirement.
