Chief Operating Officer (Contract)
We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute senior executive to step into a pivotal operational leadership role within an organisation. This is not a consulting or advisory assignment, we are looking for a hands-on leader who can embed within the business, build credibility quickly, and deliver practical, sustainable outcomes.
  
The Opportunity
Reporting to the CE and working closely with the Board, you will provide direct oversight of back-office functions while undertaking a structured operational diagnostic to assess current effectiveness, identify gaps, and recommend improvements.
A key part of the role will be clarifying reporting lines and decision rights to strengthen accountability and streamline operations. In partnership with the CE, you will develop and present structural alignment options to the Board, supporting informed decision-making at a governance level.
  
Following Board approval, you will lead consultation and implementation processes, ensuring changes are well-managed, clearly communicated, and embedded successfully. You will also establish a clear performance cadence and lead transition planning to ensure operational stability and long-term sustainability.
  
About You
You are a seasoned senior executive (COO or equivalent) with a strong track record of:

• Leading operational transformation and structural alignment
• Embedding governance clarity and decision-making frameworks
• Navigating consultation processes and organisational change
• Providing calm, decisive leadership in complex environments
• Building trust with Boards, Executive teams, and operational leaders

You bring both strategic thinking and the ability to roll up your sleeves — comfortable moving between Board-level conversations and day-to-day operational leadership.
