An exciting permanent opportunity for a Learning Experience Designer has arisen with Local Government New Zealand – an organisation that truly supports making a difference in our communities. 

Reporting to the Learning Experience Manager, the Learning Experience Designer is responsible for providing creative learning solutions to capability-based problems. The role applies best-practice learning design methods to create engaging, impactful and fully accessible learning experiences. The Learning Experience Designer also leads the design and development of LGNZ’s new micro credential programme.

The Learning Experience team is responsible for the development and delivery of sector professional development framework, Ākona. Ākona’s role is to tautoko and develop elected members throughout their local government career and includes a fully contextualised professional development programme through to New Zealand’s first formal NZQA approved qualifications.

Ngā tino pūkenga me wheako | Essential knowledge, skills and experiences

  • Proven experience designing and developing engaging capability solutions that meet the needs of both business strategy and the learner.
  • Advanced knowledge of adult learning principles, best practice learning design and delivery methodologies.
  • Proven experience creating engaging and interactive digital learning using authoring tools such as Chameleon Creator, or Articulate Rise.
  • Experience developing and working with digital media.
  • Strong and positive stakeholder management experience.
  • A love for working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience developing NZQA-approved learning would be an advantage.
