The opportunity

We are working with a prominent Wellington-based government agency to place two Ministerial Coordinators on a short-term contract. Starting in early-to-mid July through to September,  these roles sit within a busy team at the heart of New Zealand’s public service. The position is based in central Wellington with up to two days working from home once settled.

 
About the role

Supporting a busy Ministerial Services team, you will play a critical coordination role ensuring the smooth management of official information and ministerial correspondence. Key responsibilities include:
  • Logging and tracking OIA requests, parliamentary questions and ministerial correspondence in a workflow system
  • Reporting — exporting data from the workflow system into spreadsheets and Word documents
  • Managing and triaging shared inboxes, escalating matters to the Team Leader or Manager as appropriate
  • Answering general queries from the business about ministerial services processes
  • Adding and removing staff from internal systems
  • General administrative support including printing and document management
About you

To be successful in this role you will bring:
  • Experience in a similar coordination or administrative role, ideally within the public sector
  • A good understanding of the Machinery of Government and the ability to navigate a political environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail
  • High computer literacy, including proficiency across the Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems
  • The ability to work autonomously, manage competing deadlines and exercise sound judgement
  • A proactive, can-do attitude and a collaborative approach to teamwork

  • Competitive hourly rate of $40–$50 per hour
  • Contract through to September, with potential to extend to December
  • Monday to Friday hours — no weekend work
