We’re recruiting for a compassionate and highly organised Pastoral Care and Wellbeing Coordinator to join a student-centred education environment.
This is a varied and meaningful role suited to someone who enjoys supporting people, building trusted relationships, and helping students navigate personal, academic, and social challenges. You’ll work closely with academic teams, student services, families, and external providers to ensure students receive appropriate, timely support throughout their education journey.

About the Role
Working closely with the Head of Pastoral Care and Wellbeing, you’ll provide proactive support to a diverse tertiary student population, with a particular focus on international learners, students under 18, and those identified as requiring additional wellbeing support.
You’ll manage student wellbeing matters from initial check-in through to follow-up, referral, and escalation where needed. Alongside day-to-day student support, you’ll contribute to orientation, wellbeing events, parent engagement, reporting, and continuous improvement across pastoral care services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide pastoral care, wellbeing check-ins, and early intervention support for students
  • Act as a key point of contact for students experiencing academic, personal, social, or behavioural challenges
  • Manage sensitive student cases, maintain accurate case notes, and develop support plans
  • Monitor student attendance, engagement, and academic progress to identify wellbeing risks
  • Refer students to appropriate internal and external services, including counselling, health, and community support
  • Support critical incident responses, safeguarding concerns, and disciplinary matters
  • Assist with orientation, wellbeing workshops, student engagement events, parent workshops, and surveys
  • Build positive relationships with students, families, academic teams, and professional services staff
  • Maintain accurate records within the Student Management System and relevant reporting tools
  • Ensure student support activities align with privacy, safeguarding, and regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to reporting, Code of Practice self-review activities, and service improvements

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience in pastoral care, student support, wellbeing, safeguarding, or a related role
  • Ideally, experience within a New Zealand tertiary or international education setting
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with an empathetic and professional approach
  • Confidence managing sensitive situations while maintaining confidentiality and sound judgement
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage casework, follow-ups, and competing priorities
  • A full New Zealand driver’s licence

Why You’ll Love This Role

  • Make a genuine difference to students’ wellbeing, confidence, and educational success
  • Work in a diverse environment supporting learners from a range of backgrounds
  • Enjoy a varied role combining student support, engagement, case management, and continuous improvement
  • Play an important role in creating a safe, inclusive, and positive student experience

If you’re passionate about supporting young people and international learners, and enjoy helping people feel seen, safe, and supported, we’d love to hear from you.
