Payroll Adviser (with Accounts Payable)
Wellington CBD | $70,000–$85,000 + KiwiSaver | Full-time | Private Organisation

Are you a payroll pro who also doesn’t mind rolling up your sleeves in Accounts Payable? We’re looking for a detail-focused, systems-savvy Payroll Adviser to take ownership of payroll while supporting the wider finance function with AP.

This is a key role in a small, tight-knit team within a friendly private organisation, where accuracy, confidentiality, and people skills matter just as much as numbers. You’ll work closely with a leader who genuinely wants the best for their people.

What you’ll be doing Payroll (core focus):

• End-to-end payroll processing fortnightly
• Managing timesheets, leave, and payroll queries
• Ensuring compliance with legislation, PAYE, KiwiSaver, and other deductions
• Payroll reporting, reconciliations, and audit support
• Maintaining employee payroll records and system integrity

Accounts Payable (supporting function):

• Processing supplier invoices and credit notes
• Statement reconciliations
• Preparing payment runs
• Handling supplier queries
• Assisting with month-end AP reporting and accruals

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience in end-to-end payroll
• Solid understanding of NZ payroll legislation and compliance
• Experience in Accounts Payable
• Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
• Confident with finance/payroll systems and Excel
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
• A team player who’s happy to help where needed
