About the role
This is a short-term contract role to support a NZ Government agency’s robust payroll function until 30th June 2026.

As a Principal Payroll Advisor, you will need to have a strong comprehension of end-to-end payroll in a fast-paced environment, processing and preparing pay for over 1200 staff.

The role is based in Wellington CBD, in beautiful modern offices located near public transport routes, Lambton Quay’s shopping district and plenty of other amenities.
  
What you’ll be doing
The Principal Payroll Advisor’s objective is to provide support to the team’s wider delivery for the payroll function.

To be successful in this role you must have the following experience:

  • Extensive end to end payroll experience in a large corporate environment.
  • The ability to analyse payroll data and provide quality assurance before reviewing and preparing the pay.
  • Continue to maintain and build on process documentation
  • Solid knowledge of the Holidays Act, IEAs, and Collective Agreements
  • Exposure to complex payroll systems such as CI Anywhere would be beneficial
  • Strong relationship management capabilities with a customer centric approach
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to start a new role immediately in Wellington City
  • The legal right to work in New Zealand.
