We are looking for a Senior Data Analyst to join an organisation as a sole practitioner. In this standalone role, you will own thedata landscape from survey design and analysis to high-level modelling. You will be the bridge between technical data and real-world outcomes, translating complex findings into clear, actionable written reports for non-technical audiences and stakeholders.

This is a 6 month fixed term opportunity based in Wellington offering hybrid working.  

Key Responsibilities

  • The Full Data Lifecycle: Collect, measure, analyse, and interpret large datasets and relational databases.
  • Sole Practitioner Ownership: Flex your skills across a diverse range of data requests, including end-to-end survey design and analysis.
  • Storytelling & Reporting: Utilize Power BI to build visualisations, and expertly transform that data into clear, compelling written reports for lay audiences.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to understand business processes, identify trends, and advise on data best practices.

What You’ll Bring Essential Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Data Analyst or in a related analytical field, backed by a relevant degree.
  • Technical Mastery: High-level proficiency in Microsoft Power BI (essential), SQL, and either R or Python.
  • Systems & Modelling: Proven experience with data modelling, relational databases, and CRM systems (ideally Dynamics 365).
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication, with a proven ability to explain data to non-technical stakeholders..
