Senior Exchange Hybrid Engineer – 6-Month Contract

We’re supporting a key client who is seeking an experienced Senior Exchange Hybrid Engineer for an initial 6-month contract to uplift capability within their Enterprise Applications team. This role requires an active SV or higher security clearance.

About the role:

You will take ownership of designing, implementing, and supporting Microsoft Exchange hybrid environments across on-prem and Microsoft 365. The role involves leading complex migrations, ensuring secure and reliable mail flow, providing Tier 3 support, and contributing to the organisation’s broader messaging strategy. Strong documentation and knowledge-transfer skills are essential, as the engagement includes building internal capability.

Key responsibilities:

• Deliver Exchange hybrid design, implementation, and ongoing support
• Lead migrations, hybrid connectivity, AAD Connect/OAuth, and mail flow optimisation
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and performance monitoring
• Implement and maintain security, compliance, and retention standards
• Produce high-quality documentation, SOPs, and handover material
• Collaborate with security, cloud, and network teams

What you’ll bring:

• 8+ years in messaging infrastructure, with 3+ years in Exchange Online
• Expertise across hybrid Exchange, PowerShell automation, EOP, and complex migration work
• Strong understanding of M365, Entra ID, and security-focused environments
• Experience operating within regulated or high-security organisations
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to uplift teams through documentation, training, and knowledge sharing
• Current SV or higher New Zealand security clearance
