Senior Financial Analyst 6-Month Contract | Wellington | $100–$120 per hour | Immediate Start

About the Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Analyst for a six-month contract based in Wellington. This role plays a pivotal part in strengthening financial governance, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing financial management practices.

Working closely with Finance teams and key stakeholders, you will improve financial forecasting, expenditure tracking, capital investment oversight, and reporting processes. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who can deliver actionable insights, drive standardisation, and support effective financial decision-making.

Key ResponsibilitiesOPEX Management

• Oversee operational expenditure (OPEX), ensuring accurate forecasts and alignment of commitments with approved budgets.
• Prepare monthly financial reports, expenditure tracking, and variance analysis.
• Maintain and manage the OPEX tracker using SAP.
• Contribute to strategic budget planning and forecasting for FY27/28.

CAPEX Oversight

• Provide guidance on capitalisation requirements and the financial treatment of capital expenditure.
• Develop and implement CAPEX tracking systems to improve visibility, accuracy, and financial control.
• Support capital expenditure oversight for Digital Foundation initiatives.
• Monitor project investments, commitments, and expenditure to ensure transparency and alignment with approved budgets.
• Provide financial insights to support investment decisions and project governance.

Collaboration and Standardisation

• Work with Finance teams and business stakeholders to develop standardised financial templates and reporting processes.
• Promote consistent financial management practices across the business.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships to improve financial visibility and accountability.
• Support knowledge sharing, training, and continuous improvement.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial reporting and operational efficiency.

Financial Reporting and Business Support

• Deliver accurate and timely financial analysis to support business planning and decision-making.
• Analyse financial performance, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.
• Support budget management, forecasting, and expenditure control across operational and capital projects.
• Strengthen financial governance through improved tracking, reporting, and compliance with internal policies.
• Provide clear financial insights to senior stakeholders.

About You To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Proven experience in a Senior Financial Analyst or similar financial management role.
• Strong experience in OPEX management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• A sound understanding of CAPEX, capitalisation principles, and project expenditure tracking.
• Experience using SAP and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, financial modelling, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience developing standardised reporting templates and improving financial processes.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and collaboration skills.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes within tight deadlines.

Security Clearance Requirement This role requires an immediate start. Candidates must either hold an existing Basic Clearance (BC) or be eligible and able to obtain one. Applicants must meet the relevant security clearance requirements.
