We are excited to be partnering with Harness Financial to find a Senior Life & Health Insurance Adviser who wants a role where existing client relationships take priority over new leads, and where care, trust, and growth go hand in hand.

The Role

This is a senior advisory position focused on client reviews, high-quality advice delivery, and contributing to the continued growth of the business.
Most of your work will involve reviewing and strengthening relationships, with an established client base (both individuals and business clients), identifying opportunities to enhance client outcomes where appropriate. This is not a cold-calling environment – the emphasis is on building from existing client relationships and delivering quality ongoing advice.

Approximately 20% of the role involves claims response and claims management, working with clients and internal teams to ensure claims are handled efficiently, fairly, and with care, while the majority of your time remains focused on advisory and relationship-building activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting regular client reviews across life and health insurance portfolios
  • Providing clear, practical advice tailored to client needs in person, by video call and in written form
  • Identifying growth opportunities within existing and new client relationships (regularly referring internally to our Investment Advice team and external partners, Mortgages, Legal, Fire & General Insurance where appropriate)
  • Claims response and management (approx. 20% of the role)
  • Maintaining strong relationships built on trust and transparency
  • Working alongside support staff and clear internal processes so you can focus on advice rather than administration

Harness Financial has well-defined operational support and structured claims processes, ensuring advisers can concentrate on what they do best: supporting clients and delivering great advice.
 
About You:

You are a seasoned Financial Adviser specialising in Life & Health Insurance who balances professionalism with genuine care for clients.

You will bring:

  • Level 5 Certificate in Financial Services (Life & Health Insurance Strand)
  • Ideally, Level 5 Certificate in Financial Services Investment Strand (or adjacent experience)
  • Proven history working with and advising on most, if not all of New Zealand’s major Life and Health Insurers including AIA, Asteron Life, Chubb, Fidelity Life, nib, Partners Life, Resolution Life, Southern Cross and UniMed
  • Strong references from at least three insurers
  • Significant experience advising on life and health insurance
  • Experience working with businesses (small and large) and personal clients
  • Experience and strong knowledge of ACC and ACC CoverPlus Extra
  • A client-first approach, combining empathy with clear, confident communication
  • The ability to build long-term trust while still being direct and pragmatic
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Motivation to grow a portfolio while maintaining service excellence

  • $95,000 base package plus 10–30% commission. On  $200,000 API, delivering circa $140 – 150,000 OTE
