Full time
Wellington City based role

We’re bringing together corporate functions from multiple government agencies into a single, cohesive entity—and we need an exceptional Project Manager to lead phase one of this process.

This is an opportunity to lead complex, people‑centred change at pace, in one of the most significant public sector integrations underway.
The Opportunity
Withing the Integration Management Office (IMO), this role sits in a fast‑moving, multi‑agency programme with multiple parallel workstreams, compressed timeframes, and high levels of ambiguity and complexity. Success requires short‑cycle planning, decisive issue resolution, and concise, action‑oriented engagement with governance.
As Project Manager – People, Change Enablement & Corporate Integration, you’ll lead fast‑moving work across People, Finance, ICT & Information Management, Procurement, Property, and Legal/Statutory functions, coordinating their transition into a unified operating environment.
This role is all about delivering rapid, well‑sequenced integration while keeping people informed, supported, and ready for Day 1.
A full position description is attached.

Primary Accountabilities:

  • Rapid, multi‑workstream delivery: short cycle planning, RAID management, and clear, executive‑ready reporting.
  • Holistic project leadership: working with agency subject matter experts to write clear concise Board papers to seek direction and maintain momentum across all workstreams.
  • Integration stewardship: end to end project level support of the People & Change Enablement integration ensuring alignment, and early identification of emerging risks.
  • Corporate function integration: support the subject matter experts with finance processes, ICT identity and data migration, and any procurement contract transfer prioritisation.
  • Stakeholder confidence: manage trust and confidence with executive-level stakeholders across MfE, MHUD, MoT, DIA (Local Government), workstream leads, and vendors.

What You Bring

  • Proven delivery at pace within complex, multi‑agency or multi‑stream environments.
  • Experience with corporate function integration advantageous.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity, and ability to simplify complexity, make pragmatic trade‑offs and mitigate issues and risks appropriately.
  • Exceptional relationship management, with the ability to influence across agencies and senior levels.
  • Knowledge of key public sector legislation (PRA, OIA, Privacy, procurement rules) is an advantage.

Why Join Us?
You’ll be part of a small, high‑trust, high‑impact team shaping how a new entity operates from Day 1. If you thrive in ambiguity, simplify complexity, and driving confident decision‑making across agencies, this may be the role for you.
