Senior Security Assurance Specialist (Contract) | Auckland

We’re partnering with a large public sector organisation seeking an experienced Senior Security Assurance Specialist for an initial 6-month hourly rate contract based in Auckland.

This is a key role within a greenfield Third Party Risk Assurance workstream, focused on assessing cybersecurity risks associated with suppliers, partners, and externally provided technologies. You’ll lead complex Certification & Accreditation (C&A) engagements, conduct detailed risk assessments, and provide expert security assurance advice across a large and complex environment.

What you’ll be doing:

• Lead Certification & Accreditation (C&A) assessments for systems and technology platforms.
• Conduct third-party security risk assessments and produce clear risk reports and recommendations.
• Assess supplier security controls and identify potential cybersecurity risks.
• Provide expert advice aligned to NZISM, PSR, ISO27001, NIST, and related security frameworks.
• Engage with stakeholders across technology, security, procurement, and business teams.
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of security assurance processes and methodologies.

What we’re looking for:

• Strong experience in Security Assurance, Certification & Accreditation, or Third-Party Risk Management.
• Proven experience completing security risk assessments and producing risk-based recommendations.
• Deep knowledge of NZISM, PSR, ISO27001, NIST, or similar security frameworks.
• Experience working within large, complex organisations.
• Public sector experience is highly desirable.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and written communication skills.
